Tamluk MP and former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Delhi due to a serious pancreatic condition. On June 14, he fell critically ill at his residence and was admitted to a private hospital in New Alipore, Kolkata. He was diagnosed with gastrointestinal sepsis and was placed on multi-organ support. Considering the severity of his condition, he was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi on June 20 with the consent of his family.
Hospital sources in Delhi have confirmed that Gangopadhyay is currently in the ICU but has shown signs of improvement. He is responding to treatment and has started eating on his own. Doctors are closely monitoring his condition due to his existing diabetes and heart-related concerns. No official medical bulletin has been issued yet, but regular updates are being shared with party members and family.
Following his hospitalization, prayers and rituals were organized at the Kali temple in Nayachnapur, Mayna, in Purba Medinipur. BJP leader Chandan Mandal led the event where 200 kg of batasha was distributed, and khichdi prasad was served to around 2,000 people. The community gathering was aimed at praying for the MP's recovery, with participation from local residents and party workers.
